Buried (book 1, Twisted Cedars Mysteries Trilogy)

In the coastal town of Twisted Cedars, Oregon an ugly secret from the past has been festering for over thirty years when five librarians were targeted by a serial killer. Now an anonymous emailer wants true crime writer Dougal Lachlan to tell the story. To uncover the truth Dougal enlists the help of local Twisted Cedar librarian Charlotte Hammond.

Since the disappearance of her older sister, Daisy, eight years ago, Charlotte has led a quiet, sheltered life. But as Dougal’s investigation proceeds she realizes there is no safe zone. Not even in libraries. And especially not in Twisted Cedars.

Twisted Cedar Mysteries (a three book trilogy):

Book 1: Buried

Book 2: Forgotten

Book 3: Exposed

"CJ Carmichael is a seasoned author... and this shows in A Buried Tale. She has written a fluid, easy to fall into mystery and I'm really hoping there will be more books in this series. The first installment in the Twisted Cedar Mysteries was a great read and I can't wait for more.“ - Cozy Reader

"One of my favorite elements of Carmichael’s books is her gripping portrayal of family dynamics.” Kathy Altman, USA Today

  • Excellent!

This is a great book to read. I can’t even image how the other parts of the trilogy proceed. Her writing style puts you watching the whole story happen. You never can quite figure out what’s next. Worth reading!

Truly a great book, I’m hooked and on to the next Forgotten. Thank you so much for your intrigue writing.
  • Easy to read

A story easy to get caught up in, however the writing left something to be desired. A little elementary in character development and the conversations between characters seemed so forced.

Great read! So good in fact, that I’m about to buy books 2 and 3. This was my first book by this author and I’m looking forward to more.

Good book. Was shocked when I saw that CJ is an author at Harlequin Romance! If I had known that I would not have read it. Anyway, this is a decent mystery. Figured out the 'Daisy' "who dun-nit", but was surprised on the last page. I wish the writers and so-called proof readers would stop relying on computer proofing because they miss SO many errors. Of note, "conformation" was spelled accurately, but misused. Gosh, I never saw errors in books before word processing. Dr. Seus to Shakespeare. NADA! A in OHIO
  • no sense of closure

just another one of those free teaser books where nothing is ever resolved, there is no end of the story. You have to purchase further books to find out what happened, which is just super super annoying. Write a story with a beginning a middle and an end, or just stop writing already. If you can't say what you need to say by the end of the book, then give it up. If it was a good book I might be tempted to actually buy the sequels, but this is more of the same garbage that you'd find in any Harlequin romance section in the local library – which you can read for free anytime. It's not something that's worth paying money for, it's the junk food of literature.

When you give a review, WHY WOULD YOU INCLUDE SPOILERS??? I’m not even going to read this book because somebody put a spoiler in it. Not cool. Just say if the book is a good read or not and that’s it. Reviews for books or movies are not a place to open up a discussion about key things that happen in the book. So irked.
