    Good tutorial
  • Way better than most online programming texts, but there is some strangeness.

This “book” doesn’t support text resizing. Nor does it support zoom. On an iPad, even in landscape, you can only view one page at a time, for absolutely no reason. Two pages could fit perfectly. But no. Not allowed. You can’t even zoom when viewing the book on a Mac. I really don’t understand why. Actual content is fine, but its delivery system seems a bit half baked.

  • Could easily be 5-stars

This is a 5-star book that is marred by many small, easily correctable, errors. I took off one star because of the errors that should be corrected with an update, and I took off another star because the errors that are in a book that will have many new programmers as an audience (making them more egregious). If you are an experienced programmer coming to Swift, the errors will not trip you up and you’ll find this an excellent resource.
  • Best programming book I’ve ever read

I’ve tried to learn to program many times though the years: C++, ObjC, Java, Cocoa, etc. This is the first book that really connected. I love how you’re already building apps in like chapter 3, most other languages had me building command-line word games for most or all of the book. There are a few errors in the sample code, I had to search the web to find answers to those. But it really is an incredible resource to get started writing apps.
  • Good but not great

There is some good explanations of Swift theory but it’s hard to get the guided projects to work. I have tried to do the ToDoList project but even when copying and pasting the code directly from the book I get compliler errors and the code won’t run. In many cases it is not real clear where the code should be placed.
  • Great book LOL

This book was good until I got to the Structs section, now the code doesn’t work at all.
  • Must read for iOs dev

I am an iOs developer for 2 years now, I learnt Swift and Xcode the hard way browsing on internet, the Apple docs and Stack Overflow. I think this book is awesome for every level of developers out there, Apple are the best at what they do. I always really liked browse their documentation so it’s a real pleasure to be able to read this book made by the best. I spent 5 days to go through it, I already knew a lot about Swift and Xcode but it’s always good to read when you’re a developer and I can tell that there is simply nothing better out there to “Build an app with Swift”. Of course don’t forget to read “The Swift Programming Language” thorouglhy.

The font size can’t be changed! Font size change is disabled. iBooks with my other books has changeable font size and its very good. On my Mac if I make the window larger the font size increases but the bottom goes off the screen and there is no vertical scroll so the bottom of the page can’t bee seen.
