Grey by E L James read book description and reviews

See the world of Fifty Shades of Grey anew through the eyes of Christian Grey.

In Christian's own words, and through his thoughts, reflections, and dreams, E L James offers a fresh perspective on the love story that has enthralled millions of readers around the world.

Christian Grey exercises control in all things; his world is neat, disciplined, and utterly empty—until the day that Anastasia Steele falls into his office, in a tangle of shapely limbs and tumbling brown hair. He tries to forget her, but instead is swept up in a storm of emotion he cannot comprehend and cannot resist. Unlike any woman he has known before, shy, unworldly Ana seems to see right through him—past the business prodigy and the penthouse lifestyle to Christian’s cold, wounded heart.

Will being with Ana dispel the horrors of his childhood that haunt Christian every night? Or will his dark sexual desires, his compulsion to control, and the self-loathing that fills his soul drive this girl away and destroy the fragile hope she offers him?

This book is intended for mature audiences.

  • Perfect and surprisingly refreshing

I was worried this would be a stiff repeat of the original books just from Christian’s view. I had no need to worry. It’s just as erotic, seductive and interesting as the originals. You really a feel for Christians thought process d lifestyle which is actually what I hoped for. It paints a picture of a mysterious man with a luxurious practical lifestyle gaining emotional intelligence in his first romantic relationship. Very well done, completely addictive.

  • Eh...

I loved the first three books, and with "Grey" I was hoping to find some holes filled and some perspective from Christian. While some of that was accomplished, I felt like this book was almost a duplicate of the first 50 shades book. Page 1, rewritten, page 2, rewritten. Almost verbatim just from a different POV. I didn't want to read the same books, I was hoping for something more similar to "Hudson" in the Fixed trilogy. (Read that if you haven’t). Even Lucy Robbins’ Revealed series does a better job of showcasing male viewpoint. (Maybe read that, too). Also- is it possible to give 5 stars to the Publishers Weekly review?! It was spot on...and tactfully hilarious. 😂😂
  • Expecting More

Since this was from his point of view I thought it would be more graphic. This was just the same book but told in almost the same way. Not much new to read here if you read the original version. Quite disappointing.

If you empathize with Anna in the others books then don’t read this book but if you like realistic and rational thoughts like Christian this book is for you

Seriously helps you understand their relationship on a whole new level hearing his side. It's awesome that she took the time to basically rewrite the entire story again but on a totally different view. It also fills in a lot of gaps to the story, and makes it much easier to relate to his character. Can't wait to read the next one! Really hoping the story never ends.
